Chris Marsh- A Cobra Golf Great

Every day at golf practice is a learning experience. The Coker men’s golf team is loaded with talent from all different parts of the world. Today I was able to play with one of the greats in Coker golf history. He goes by the name of Chris Marsh, from Georgetown, SC. I really enjoy his company on and off the golf course because I can learn from his experiences. Chris has won 4 collegiate golf tournaments and still has a semester of great play left. He also holds the low round record at Coker College with a course record 64 at Kiawah Island’s Cougar Point in Kiawah Island, SC. In the 2008-2009 seasons, Chris was named the Men’s Conference Carolinas golfer of the year.

Not only has he achieved much success in the collegiate golf scene, he has also reached the top level of amateur golf. In August of 2009, Chris competed in the men’s U.S. Amateur golf championship, which was held at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla. It is nice to have someone who has accomplished so much like Chris to play and compete with everyday. This makes our team stronger and a force to be reckoned with.

Chris will be leaving Coker College this coming May and his presence will be missed. But … he still has a few tournaments left at Coker to help lead our team to more victories. Mr. Marsh has a very bright future ahead of him, and I would like to wish him the best of luck.

Please stay tuned for my next blog!
